Distinguished from other members of the genus by having the following combination of characters: eyes vestigial; dorsal-fin with 9 branched rays; pectoral fin with 12 branched rays; pelvic fin with 7 branched rays; anal fin with 6 branched rays; caudal fin with 7+7 branched rays; distal margin of dorsal fin concave; tip of pelvic fin surpasses vertical level of anus; caudal fin deeply forked; whole body scaleless and colorless (Ref. 57680).
