Short description Chiavi di identificazione | Morfologia | Morfometria

Spine dorsali (totale) : 1; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 7; Raggi anali molli: 10 - 13; Vertebre: 40 - 44. Distinguished from other congeners with a long-based adipose fin (except Mystus cavasius and M. seengtee) in having a combination of a black spot in front of the dorsal-spine base, a dark humeral mark, a body without distinct midlateral stripes, very long maxillary barbels reaching to caudal-fin base, dorsal spine short and feebly serrate, tall dorsal fin, and 22-29 rakers on the first gill arch. Differs from M. cavasius and M. seengtee in possessing a very prominent dark spot at the base of the dorsal spine, a crescentic dark humeral mark, and a dorsal fin with very elongate first and second rays and a markedly concave dorsoposterior margin. The black spot in front of dorsal-spine base is also more prominent in the preserved material of M. falcarius than in either M. cavasius and M. seengtee. Differs further from M. cavasius in having more gill rakers, 22-29 vs. 13-22 (Ref. 56668).

Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Oviparous, distinct pairing possibly like other members of the same family (Ref. 205).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00832 (0.00384 - 0.01800), b=2.95 (2.77 - 3.13), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Medio, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione 1.4 - 4.4 anni (Assuming Fec < 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (13 of 100).
