Spine dorsali (totale) : 0; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 11; Spine anali: 0; Raggi anali molli: 8; Vertebre: 27 - 29. A moderately large species of Garra with smoothly rounded snout, rostral lobes present, proboscis absent, tubercles on anterior aspect of snout, scaled predorsal region, chest and abdomen, two pairs of barbels, lateral line scales 33, circumpeduncular scale rows 16. Distinguished from other Garra species by a black band across the posterior margin of the head, between left and right side pectoral fin bases.
This fish could be potential aquarium species (Fang, 2004, pers. comm.).
