Diagnosis: Pored lateral line scales 16 + 5; gill rakers 13 - 15; body depth 3.4-3.55 in SL; only the first dorsal soft ray of males prolonged as a filament; caudal fin slightly rounded; pelvic fins 1.75-2.0 in head length; three pale blue to pink stripes on side of body and slightly oblique; unscaled part of caudal fin mainly red (Ref. 52305).
Occurs in outer reef slopes rubble bottoms in small groups of mix sexes with females outnumbering males (Ref. 90102). Minimum depth from Ref. 90102.
