Épines dorsales (Total) : 15 - 16; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 7 - 8; Épines anales: 3; Rayons mous anaux: 6 - 7. The color pattern, seven dark red lines, and a characteristic arc at the connection between the postorbital stripe and the midlateral band distinguish this new species from all other known members of the genus Apistogramma. Lateral line 11-17/6-10.
