Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt) : 2; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt) : 6 - 8; Afterflossenstacheln: 0; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 30 - 33. Body elongated, intermediate predorsal length (30.1-33.9% SL). Short snout length (35.2-42.8% HL). Long caudal peduncle (17.6-21.4% SL). Short mandibular barbels (length 10.4-39.3% HL). Large eyes (19.2-25.5% HL) (Ref. 46915).

Obligate air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); An omnivorous fish, feeding mainly on benthic animals such as mollusks and crustaceans. During rainy seasons, Mekong specimens feed on fruits and various debris (Ref. 46915). A single 63 cm SL gravid female was observed at Ban Hang Khone in Laos (Ref. 9497). Marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).
