पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 2; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 7; गुदा कांटा: 0; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 16 - 19; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 37 - 40. Body with dark blotches on the sides, especially in small individuals (< 5cm SL). Anterior edge of pectoral and dorsal spines without serrations; posterior edge of dorsal spine with retrorse teeth. Caudal fin moderately forked with rounded lobes. Adductor mandibulae extending onto skull roof; the latter covered with thick skin. Maxillary barbels moderately short, not extending to origin of pectoral fin.
