Etymology: Nemacheilus: Greek, nema, -atos = filament + Greek, cheilos = lip (Ref. 45335); tuberigum: From the Latin tuber meaning swelling and mangus meaning large, referring to its relatively large tubercles on either side of the lateral line on the anterior part of the caudal peduncle (Ref. 42961).

Row of comparatively large tubercles present on enlarged, elongate scales rows immediately above and below the lateral line scale row on the anterior half of the caudal peduncle; color pattern of 11-15 dorsal saddles, a series of 8- 13 lateral blotches centered along the lateral line, and without a dark spot at anterior base of dorsal fin (Ref. 42961).
Recorded from shallow, clear streams with gravel or sand bottom (Ref. 42961). Juveniles also known from murky water (Ref. 42961).
