Radios blandos anales: 13 - 14. Fresh specimens are bright, with metallic green color over dorsal profile while formalin preserved have a streak of gray along center of body and over the dorsal ridge and pale white below the dorsal line.
Inhabits open water. Feeds on zooplankton. Breeds during the monsoon season (Ref. 44315). Marketed as sun dried fish (Ref. 44315).
