Body golden in life; transverse chevron-shaped bars along the horizontal midline of the body. Dorsal and pelvic fins elongated and filamentous in mature males. Thick anal fin rays and absence of anal fin lobe in mature males. A large caudal spot, covering at least half of the caudal peduncle and its base (Ref. 42626).
Collected only in lentic marginal portions of the stream, on muddy bottom with plenty of submersed vegetation (Ref. 42626).
