Spine dorsali (totale) : 9; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 11; Spine anali: 3; Raggi anali molli: 9; Vertebre: 25. Median predorsal scales 5; horizontal scale rows on cheek below eye 2; caudal fin truncate to slightly emarginate; pelvic fins short, 1.65-1.8 in HL. Orangish to reddish brown in life, shading to pale yellow ventrally, with three longitudinal blue bands (one from eye following lateral line to upper base of caudal fin, the second from lower pectoral-fin base to caudal fin base just below lateral line, and the third from side of snout to anus); dorsal fin yellow with a large red area on last five membranes and two rows of blue spots.
Collected over rubble or rubble and sand bottom (Ref. 41634).
