Pseudopimelodidae (Bumblebee catfishes, dwarf marbled catfishes)
Etymology: Pseudopimelodus: Greek, pseudes = false + greek, pimele = fat + Greek, odous = teeth (Ref. 45335).
More on author: Valenciennes.
Issue
Common names according to Valenciennes (1840), Galvis et al. (1997) and Kenney (1985). Maybe the species from the Maracaibo basin is a new species, not described yet. I have seen fishes from Northern Brazil, from Rio Amazonas basin that are very close to the original description. Therefore, the distribution range of this species will change with clarification of the taxonomic situation.
