Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 12 - 13; Anale zachte stralen: 11 - 13; Wervels: 16 - 17. Males have a red dorsal fin, caudal fin proximal two-thirds grey, distal part black with white margin. Have the following combination of characters: dorsal fin rays 12-13 (mode 12); anal fin rays 11-13 (mode 11 or 13); pectoral fin rays 16; caudal fin rays 12; presence of black blotch on dorsal fin base in male; pectoral fin base black; dorsal fin base length 12.5-14.0 % SL; anal fin base length 10.2-10.9% SL (Ref. 39332).
