Conspicuous black mid-lateral stripe from tip of snout to end of median caudal rays; usually 1 or 2 rows of faint dots along scale rows below lateral stripe; 11/2-2 scale rows between anus and anal origin (Ref. 43281); body depth 23.8-26.4 %SL; a single pair of barbels (Ref. 36949).
Usually associated with clear, relatively fast waters with gravel or boulders (Ref. 43281). Crossocheilus atrilimes and C. oblongus sometimes occur in syntopy, but C. oblongus is collected in swift water, in rapids and torrents, whereas C. atrilimes is found in somewhat quieter habitats (Ref. 36949).
