Short description Chiavi di identificazione | Morfologia | Morfometria

Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 11; Raggi anali molli: 8. Possesses six vertical black bars, each two scales in width, on the flank. These bars are more indistinct in adult males than in females, absent in some larger individuals. Presence of second primary vertical black bar positioned posterior to the base of the last simple dorsal-fin ray and a longitudinal black stripe extending along the lateral line on the flank of adults, which it shares with other congeners (Acrossocheilus fasciatus, Acrossocheilus jishouensis, Acrossocheilus parallens and Acrossocheilus wenchowensis). Shares with Acrossocheilus jishouensis and Acrossocheilus parallens in having vertical bars not extending beyond the lateral line on the flank, but can be diagnosed from them in having a stout (vs. slender) last simple dorsal-fin ray. Can be further distinguished from Acrossocheilus jishouensis by the presence of small serrations along the posterior edge of the last simple dorsal-fin ray (vs. absence) and from Acrossocheilus parallens by the presence of oblong, black blotches on the membranes between the dorsal-fin rays (vs. absence) (Ref. 85613).
