Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 0; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 44 - 51; Taggstrålar i analfenan: 0; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 45 - 52; Ryggkotor: 48 - 51. More than 50 lateral line scales; 10 scales in transverse series. Eye 3.0 in head. Depth 6.6 - 7 in standard length. The first dorsal fin consists of an elongate occipital ray (Ref. 36382). The caudal fin is well developed and separate from the dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 36382). Pelvic fins are jugular; the outer three rays are separate, thick, and elongate, extending well past the origin of the anal fin (Ref. 36382). Branchiostegal rays: 7-7 (Ref. 36382).
Neritic, restricted to the near-shore water of continental shelves. Reaches depths greater than 1000 m (Ref. 37955). Adults feed on plankton (Ref. 36382). Oviparous, with planktonic eggs and larvae (Ref. 36382).
