الأشواك الظهرية (المجموع) : 6; الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع) : 10 - 11; شوكة شرجية: 1; أشعه شرجية لينه: 7; فقرات: 28. Distinguished by the combination of characters: 2nd dorsal fin rays modally I/9; body with 5 or 6 lateral blackish-brown blotches; and male with long filamentous rays in 1st dorsal fin and cheek with about 40 small rounded white spots (Ref. 33279). Anal fin with one simple and 7 branched rays (Ref. 43281).
Inhabits headwaters with relatively fast water, in riffles, among large gravel.
