Spine dorsali (totale) : 1; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 6; Spine anali: 5; Raggi anali molli: 15 - 16; Vertebre: 36 - 38. This species is distinguished from all its congeners by having a relatively shorter adipose-fin base (6.5-10.2% SL, versus 10.6-15.7), a larger eye (eye diameter 35.0-38.9% HL, versus 19.7-34.9), a smooth (versus partially serrated) anterior edge of pectoral spine, and the absence (versus presence) of both a dark spot on anterior base of the adipose fin and a dark midlateral band running longitudinally along sides of body.

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.6250   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00832 (0.00384 - 0.01800), b=2.95 (2.77 - 3.13), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.1   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Alto, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione meno di 15 mesi (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
