Reddish-scarlet body; all fins deep pinkish; 2 dusky, narrow stripes (reddish to metallic brown in life), dorso- and midlateral. Caudal fin base with a black spot as large as the eye diameter at the center. Five, rarely 6, predorsal scales. Preopercular ridge entire, serrated edge. Body depth 2.8-3.1 in SL (Ref. 31450).
