Etymology: Microschemobrycon: Greek, mikros = small + Greek, schema = figure + Greek, bryko = to bite (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Otto August Gert Meyburg (1910–1996) was a physician in Bremen, Germany. He and his wife, Erika, made a collection near Lake Victoria, East Africa (1971). He presumably also collected in Brazil, where the characin originates. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
