Body grayish black on dorsal and sides and with cloudy stripes, abdomen grayish white; caudal fin gray and with black lower margin. Head small; snout bluntly conical; rostral skin extending downward covering upper jaw; upper lip absent; lower lip separated from lower jaw with a transverse belt in anterior part and covered with papilla; upper and lower jaws covered with thin cutting edges (Ref. 45536).
Lives near the bottom of the river and feeds mainly on detritus and filamentous algae (Ref. 28024).
