Upturned mouth; light and dark marks forming a radial pattern surrounding eye (Ref. 27661); depressed head and body; a more or less complete ocellus on the posterior part of the body; a series of oblique stripes on the cheeks and on the lower anterior part of the body (Ref. 27732).
Usually found in large rivers with muddy substrate, close to the bottom (Ref. 27732). May also be found in rocky bottoms (Ref. 27661).
