Etymology: Stegophilus: Greek, stego = cover + Greek, philein = to like (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Werner Panzer (1901–1976) was a zoologist and entomologist. He was at Freiburg until 1937 when he moved to Danzig (Gdansk). He was a graduate student and traveling companion of Hans Böker (1886–1939), the zoologist who collected the holotype. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
