Etymology: Oncorhynchus: Greek, onyx, -ychos = nail + Greek, rhyngchos = snout (Ref. 45335).

Issue
Considered as a synonym in CofF (Sept. 2020). More genectic works that include all possible taxa in Oncorhynchus are needed, all existing studies being inconclusive because of the incomplete taxonomic sampling. Please send articles that we may have missed.
