Body dark purple on back, sides of body bit lighter with many small dark spots; edge of dorsal fin purplish red mixed with spots; pelvic and anal fins lighter and pectoral fin dark (Ref. 45563).
In winter, adults are found in deep parts of mountain streams and in summer, they occur in clear streams flowing slowly with thick aquatic weeds (Ref. 45563). Feed on benthic organisms (Ref. 41072), and insects (Ref. 45563). Form schools during breeding in clear, fast-flowing streams (Ref. 45563). Edible fish (Ref. 45563).
