Adults inhabit sandy and rocky pools and runs of small to medium rivers. Highly specialized detritus and plant eating species. With long coiled dark gut, a feature it shares with no other shiner but Notropis nubilus; dark peritoneum (Ref. 5723). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
