North America: Rio Grande drainage from near mouth upstream to mouth of Rio Conchos and lower Pecos River in Texas, USA. Also in Rio Grande drainage in northern Mexico.

Adults inhabit rocky and sandy channels of large creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723). They feed on aquatic insects (Ref. 79012). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
