Found mainly in rivers (Ref. 12975). Occurs at the surface of flowing waters. Inhabits flooded forests and moves into permanent water in November and December as flood waters rapidly recede. Feeds mostly on exogenous insects as well as some small crustaceans and fish. Used to make pharos (Ref. 12693).
