Dorsal soft rays (total): 16; Anal soft rays: 8. Distinguished from its only congener T. baenzigeri by having 12 1/2 branched dorsal rays (versus 9-10 1/2); anus situated under branched dorsal rays 6-7; distance from anus to anal fin origin less than length of base of dorsal fin (Ref. 39226). With a few large dark spots on a nearly white background (Ref. 12693).
Inhabits sandy-bottomed streams. Probably attains up to 4 cm (Ref. 12693).
