生態学
海 底生の; 深さの範囲 50 - 95 m (Ref. 81822). Tropical
Indian Ocean, from Mauritius and South Africa (northern KwaZulu-Natal), and probably also off Madagascar and Mozambique at comparable depths.

背面の脊椎 (合計) : 10; 背鰭 (合計) : 16 - 17; 肛門の骨: 3; 臀鰭: 7; 脊つい: 26. Unique among the others in having three ventrally-directed to antrorse spines on the ventral margin of the preopercle.
Rests on the bottom with gravel and small round corals; usually in pairs.
