Characterized by the following: presence of many barbel-like projections on the head; ultimate fin ray in either the dorsal or anal fins (or both) bearing a forked pterygiophore, middle radial is bifurcated with proximal radial adjoins one hemal (or neural) spine, bifurcated arm adjoins hemal (or neural) spine posterior to it (Ref. 92840).
