Differs from its congeners by its slender body and its 'predator' appearance, with strong jaws, anterior horizontal portion of premaxilla conspicuously projecting and toothed, about as long as lateral part and as distance between posterior tip of maxilla and eye. Also distinguished by its rounded anal and second dorsal fins, and its relatively short caudal peduncle (length/ depth: 1.49-1.57) (Ref. 7305).
