Differs from the sympatric species Garra arupi in possessing the following features: predorsal scales 14-15 (vs. 11-12); branched dorsal fin rays 6 (vs. 7); branched anal fin rays 4 (vs. 5); transverse scales between the anal fin origin and the lateral line 4½ (vs. 3½); presence of a W-shaped color band on the caudal fin (vs. absence); presence of a rostral lobe on the snout (vs. absence); absence of a transverse band of tubercles on the snout tip (vs. presence); and vent to anal distance 37.3-40.2 (vs. 52.6-60.0%) pelvic to anal distance (Ref. 81034). Predorsal scales14-15; no scales on chest (Ref. 93557).
