Etymology: Hypselobarbus: Greek, hypselos = high + Latin, barbus =barbel (Ref. 45335).

Issue
Questionably a synonym of Hypselobarbus curmuca; examination of a larger series of specimens, however, may show the two species to be distinct (Ref. 94728:210).
