Found in both large turbid lowland rivers and relatively steep gradient tributaries in mountainous terrain (Ref. 2847). Occurs in clear, flowing streams over gravel or rock bottoms (Ref. 5259, 44894). Feeds mainly on insects and crustaceans (Ref. 5259, 44894).
