Gill rakers on the first arch, 19-22; vertebrae 52-55; predorsal scales 41-52; possesses large tricuspid teeth, short lower jaw and weakly elongate upper jaw projection; pelvic fins more posteriorly located than in Hyporhamphus limbatus.
