Metamorphosed females distinguished by the following characteristics: have branched distal escal filaments, 3 slender filaments on and below anterior margin of escal bulb, and several similar filaments on and below posterior margin of escal bulb; length of illicium 175-200% SL; escal papillae absent; relatively long dentary teeth (largest 4.0-4.5% SL), arranged in two, possibly three, very irregular longitudinal series; caudal fin rays less than 35% SL (Ref. 86949).
