Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
Etymology: Argyrosomus: Greek, argyros = silvered, silver + Greek, soma = body (Ref. 45335).
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecologia
marinhas bentopelágico. Subtropical
Western Indian Ocean: known only from Durban Harbor, South Africa.
Tamanho / Peso / Idade
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 23.0 cm SL macho/indeterminado; (Ref. 1008)
Espinhos dorsais (total) : 11; Raios dorsais (total) : 27 - 28; Espinhos anais: 2; Raios anais : 7. Strikingly contrasts with other Argyrosomus species by its short, beak-like snout and its concave dorsal profile. Also differs from its congeners by its large eyes (23.8-26.9% HL), narrow interorbital width (15.2-15.6% HL), and long pectoral (23.2-23.8% SL) and pelvic (22.4-23.3% SL) fins.
