Diagnosis: mouth inferior, lips moderately developed, lower lip continuous; two pairs of well-developed barbels, anterior pair shorter than posterior pair, which are as long as or longer than eye diameter; last simple ray of dorsal fin very strong and ossified, not serrated, measuring 0.6-1 times head length; lower jaw not reaching to anterior margin of eye; 30-35 scales in lateral line (Ref. 81639).
