Africa: widespread in West-Central Africa (Ref. 81639). Also known from the Dja River (middle Congo River basin)(Ref. 81639) and the Cross River in Cameroon (Ref. 51193, 81282). Reported from around Dundo (middle Congo River basin, Angola) (Ref. 81639), but questionable as specimens are identified as Barbus sp. aff. progenys (Ref. 11970).

Scale formula: 5.5/33/4.5;2.5;12 (Ref. 81282) or 5.5-6.5/32-40/4.5/2.5/12-14 (Ref. 81639).
