Africa: Lower Guinea endemic, known from the Chiloango, Kouilou-Niari and Ogowe River basins (Ref. 81639). Reported as Barbus cf. collarti from the lower Congo River (Ref. 94750); needs confirmation.

Diagnosis: Mouth subterminal; barbels absent; lateral line incomplete; 22-23 scales in lateral line; 9 circumpeduncular scales; 2.5 scales between lateral line and pelvic fin insertions; gill rakers present along lower limb of first gill arch; 5 round spots on the sides, first above opercle, 3 on sides and 1 on caudal peduncle (Ref. 81639).
