Diagnosis: mouth inferior; lips rather strongly developed, lower lip with a round mental lobe; two pairs of well-developed barbels, anterior pair a little shorter than the posterior pair, which are as long as, or longer than, eye diameter; lower jaw reaching to, or beyond, anterior margin of eye; last simple ray of dorsal fin strong and ossified, measuring 0.6-0.75x HL; no black stripes on caudal fin (Ref. 81639).
