與西太平洋的 C. bicolor 相似但是用它的顏色,背棘數目,尾鰭的形狀與分布的深度容易地與它區分了。 前半部的身體,從吻部向上到線從腹鰭- 臀鰭空間的第三個背棘到中央, 金黃色的; 其餘的身體, 包括毗連的背鰭與臀鰭, 對尾梗深藍色或黑色; 尾鰭與梗金黃色的。 一個不規則的淡藍色條紋環眼窩。 背鰭與臀鰭有狹窄的淡藍色邊緣。
Found in coral and rubble areas on steep outer reef slopes. Solitary or in small groups of four to five individuals.
