The lateral line pores are in a double row and the dorsal-fin origin is back from vertical above pectoral-fin base. The median fins have dusky margins and the caudal fin ends in a black tip. The head has dark banding, especially over the top between the eyes (Ref. 48635).
A benthic species (Ref. 75154) found on the continental shelf (Ref. 48635, 75154). Generally known from trawl over muddy substrates (Ref. 48635). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
