Inhabits headwater mountainous streams with an elevation of more than 800 m in a relatively broad (1 km width) valley (Ref. 2847). An egg laying omnivore which prefers rock, plant and driftwood cover and the following aquarium conditions: pH=7.5, H=10, 26°C water temperature (Ref. 6398).
