Etymology: Kosswigichthys: Because of Curt Kosswig, Berlin, 1903-1982; he studied the cave fishes and wrote when in exile in Turkey about the "regressive evolution"/ Hamburg University.

This species with three rows of conical teeth; a slightly upturned lower jaw; male without black or dark-brown bars in the caudal fin; no head canals; presence of a dermal sheath at the anal-fin base in the nuptial female; body naked (Ref. 126233).
Not a seasonal killifish. Is very difficult to maintain in the aquarium (Ref. 27139).
