Museum specimens indicate that this species is probably most abundant in non-coral reef coastal waters, although one specimen at the Australian Museum was taken at Great Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Life history characteristics for the family specify that this group is oviparous, with distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205).
