Ecology
Freshwater; brackish; demersal; depth range 3 - 4 m (Ref. 90102). Tropical; 28°N - 14°S, 116°E - 155°E (Ref. 55)
Asia and Oceania: Philippines, Indonesia (Sulawesi) and New Guinea. This species appears to be valid, but final judgment is reserved until adults and intermediate forms are available for examination (Ref. 469).

Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 8. Dorsal profile of head steeply sloped. Preorbital bone narrow, its width slightly less than eye diameter. Preopercular notch and knob poorly developed. Scale rows on back parallel to lateral line. Live colors unknown. Older specimens becoming overall brownish except whitish on ventral surface (Ref. 469). Body depth 2.2-2.7 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Apparently restricted to freshwater streams and brackish waters, although adults are unknown (Ref. 55). Also found in mangrove lined inlets (Ref. 90102).
