Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 7. Can be differentiated from all its congeners by the following characters: oral sucking disc large with posterior edge reaching vertical of anterior margin of eye; snout with small tubercles; body depth more than 17.2% SL; mid-ventral region anterior to pelvic-fin insertion scaleless; snout rounded, not projected; prepectoral length 16.3-18.3% SL; interorbital width 52.5-60.9% HL; head length 17.5-20.6% SL; head depth 13.2-14.2% SL; anus to anal-fin origin distance 25% posterior end of pelvic-fin base to anal-fin origin distance (Ref. 75176).
Prefers to inhabit fast-flowing water of limpid streams with cobble substrate. Reported by local people to feed mainly on algae and occasionally on aquatic plants and larvae of aquatic insects (Ref. 75176).

50 = 0.5000 [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00724 (0.00339 - 0.01546), b=3.06 (2.88 - 3.24), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref.
