Fresh samples are translucent lavender, silvery over abdomen; head naked, except opercle with large scales. Anterior nostril in a short membranous tube with a short posterior flap. Longitudinal series, 31 scales. Convex interorbital space.
Known only from the holotype which was collected at the base of a drop-off in 15 m.
